Tuningi Safari Lodge accommodates up to 16 guests in four Luxury Suites and two Family Suites, each of which boast incredible views from private wrap-around decks. The main lodge offers a cosy lounge and airy dining room, a bar and a communal rim flow pool. These areas are interlinked by a wooden deck that leads down to a boma and viewing deck overlooking an active waterhole.
During a stay at Tuningi Safari Lodge, guests are taken on two daily game drives in open-air Land Cruisers, led by a professional and knowledgeable game ranger. Each day brings something different, as you experience the endless fascination of Africa’s wildlife. One of the few malaria free game reserves in South Africa, Madikwe Game Reserves lies within a transition region between the Kalahari thornveld and the Lowveld bushveld, and as such, is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. With 86 mammals, 420 bird species and 105 species of trees recorded, there is little left to be desired for nature lovers. As well as the Big 5, the Madikwe Game Reserve also features a healthy population of cheetah and the endangered wild dog. The game rangers at Tuningi Safari Lodge are highly qualified and have sound knowledge of the fauna and flora within the reserve and convey this passion and knowledge to guests during game drives.

Situated near the Botswana border, in South Africa’s Madikwe Game Reserve, Tuningi Safari Lodge can be reached by car from Johannesburg in 4.5 hours. For those with a wider budget, who wish to experience an exhilarating fly-in safari, Federal Airlines operates scheduled 45-minute charters from OR Tambo to Madikwe Game Reserve. The lodge is a 20-minute complimentary transfer from the strip.
